I am venerable monk Hun, from Lolei Wat, a pagoda with a history stretching back some nine hundred years. I was educated here, trained to become a Buddhist monk and then remained, devoting my life to Buddhist principles, just like generations of monastic teachers before me.
When I completed my education, I felt it was important to share with others what I had been gifted with and so I began to tutor one fellow student. What started as a humble, one-on-one lesson blossomed into a bustling community of 400 learners.
Although the world surrounding my community is changing quickly, the goal of FACCH has remained constant since its inception in 2008 - to provide educational opportunities for our community members so they can build better futures.
Our partnership with Bakong Development Center in 2018, expanded our reach to six underserved communities. We work hand-in-hand with local families and village elders to ensure our programs assist with identified requests for support including donations of bicycles, installation of water wells and toilets, and addressing villagers’ health needs.
Today, education remains the foundation of our NGO since English language and computer skills are now essential to keep members connected and relevant. A keyboard today is equally as important to us as in-person friendships.
